It's better to light a candle than curse the darkness

Malala Yousafzai …Thank you for taking a stand.

Because her speech must continue to be shared and heard…
Dear beautifully brave girl, I thank you for taking a stand, at the very risk, and near loss of your life…

  1. Thank you so much for the heads up on this. It has had me in tears.

  2. I am with her except for the phrase that Islam is a religion of peace. Many Muslims are peaceful and do not apply Sharia law literally because they reason more than they believe and blindly apply the racist, and discriminating hateful Islamic laws.

    • Your post last night dashed that. Islam means “submission,” not “peace.”

      • Yea, I just didn’t think it would be nice to do some self advertising…

        • Hell no! I have your post now sitting in my Special Folder. Things have to be good to find a home in that little beauty.

          • I’m curious to know what else is there in that folder. If I can hijack your PC, that would be the first thing I’d do 🙂 “zero privacy eh?”

        • oh you can ALWAYS do that here… 🙂 but I have emails to catch up from your blog still pending. 🙂

          • Thank you.
You have lots to read then 🙂

    • sure Mike, I completely understand your concern. (i have seen some of the horrors done in the name of Islam) At this point however, I am going to applaud and encourage every small step, (such as those stepping away from literalness, and bigotry, and dogma) that I see. This was one small step for mankind …..and it all begins with the first step.

      • No doubt about this 🙂

  3. I feel a great deal of sympathy for what she went through and it takes a lot of courage to take such a stand. But it is still so sad, so mind numbingly insane that because of religion this happens. And in the end only one religion can be right, right?
You must know all about that. And we all know its only the Christians who will be saved, of course.
    Ho hum….
Forgiveness is one thing, but at the last, religious folk will always draw a line in the sand.
This is mine and that is yours. Touch mine and you’ll get yours.
Thanks for posting all the same , Holly.

    • I am ready to shout for joy anytime i see anyone question, anyone stand again dogma, bigotry, even if they are still religious. It has to start somewhere yes? And this brave girl has my applause and admiration. She has only just begun….

  4. That was a great speech. I hope in future she grows to start her speech differently and if she must invoke anyone, then by all means it should not be gods which we can’t know anything about. The gods of religion are petty, jealous and like death.

    • Understood…. 🙂

The video seems to have disappeared. If it was of her speech before the UN, I’ve seen it and it is a hallmark of triumph. I was one of the first so sign her petition after she was so shamefully shot.

    • Thanks Arch. That was the one. Think I fixed it with another still viewable. I signed that petition as well. The speech was indeed a hallmark of triumph.
