love and heretics

It's better to light a candle than curse the darkness

Don’t miss it

There is a community of the spirit.
Join it, and feel the delight
of walking in the noisy street
and being the noise.
Drink all your passion,
and be a disgrace.
Close both eyes
to see with the other eye.

Some turn there noses up at the hint, or idea of “spirituality”.
I think we must be careful to not spurn what we have evolved to.
Feelings and emotions, compassion, empathy…more than just the one…
the community of the realization that we are we…not me.
Humanity is a whole…the sum of us all.
We affect each other…
no person is an island unto themself…
step into the ocean of humankind.
be a part of more.
step out and live…and share in the lives of those around….
Don’t miss what is passing you by….
what restrains you? what holds you down?
cut it lose…
and live

  1. I was reminded of that part in Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha when Sayuri was just discovering the Japanese Zodiac and pondering how everything is connected, and that we can always choose to negotiate life on the correct side of the current, if we can just keep in tune with the proverbial river instead of fighting it. 😉

    • love it iris! thank you for sharing!

  2. I love this poem, and rumi ❤
    An interesting thought on community
(My roomie and I watched a documentary
    On the KKK last night)
It seems most people/groups of people we hear about embracing the term 'community'
    Eg; churches, racial supremacists, gangs
Seem to use community as more of an exclusive term than inclusive .
While most other individuals don't think of a community or other people for that matter. The closest a lot of people get the that way of thinking is feeling a community to their family. This is vague and general because not all people and groups are like that I know, but just a general observation of what I see on a day to day, especially in new York. To be surrounded by millions of people a day and feel alone is something that can only happen in a big city lol.

    • good stuff razzle. I do look forward to reading (perhaps in music lyrics or poems) more of your own experiences. 🙂
